Engine Rebuild: Disconnection Process

Well, after driving the car for a couple thousand miles, a few problems arose. A rear main seal leak had me thinking of replacing it WITH the engine in the car but then I noticed the valve seals leaking and after taking a good look at the not so good looking engine compartment, made me decide to yank the motor, replace the things that need to be, and add some special touches by detailing the engine and the compartment.

These are the Cloyed True Double Roller timing chain, Melling Stock Replacement oil pump, ARP High Performance head bolts, Made For You CenterBolt wire looms, engine stand bolt kit, and some specialty paints from Eastwood.

These are the Crane Cams Roller Tip Rockers for the small block Chevy-WRONG ONES!!! For the 87-88 L69 heads, you need self-aligning rockers.

This is the Catco converter for the Monte Carlo SS

This is my Mr. Gasket 87-93 305 Gasket Overhaul kit. It includes everything that I need to put my motor back together.

As of 9/4/01, I have almost everything disconnected except my tranny, motor mounts, and A/C compressor. I am hoping to get the motor out on 9/8/01 if I can get my hands on an engine hoist.

This is what the L69 305 motor looked like before I started the disconnection process.

This is how 9/3/01 ended-The inner fenders, radiator, fan and shroud, and many misc things.

Mostly everything is disconnected or moved. Its ready to come out!!!
